Depending on your citizenship, if your child was born in the United States and you do not have a Permanent Resident Card or a Certificate of Naturalization, then your child can only apply for a China Travel Document. However, if your child was born in China and came to the United States with you, and has obtained a Permanent Resident Card or Certificate of Naturalization, then your child can apply for a visa.

Additional informations:

  • China Travel Document: a travel document issued by the Chinese government to Chinese citizens who do not have a Chinese passport.
  • Permanent Resident Card: a document issued by the United States government to foreign nationals who have been granted permanent residency in the United States.
  • Certificate of Naturalization: a document issued by the United States government to foreign nationals who have become naturalized citizens of the United States.

Example:

Let's say that you are a Chinese citizen and your child was born in the United States. You do not have a Permanent Resident Card or a Certificate of Naturalization. In this case, your child would only be able to apply for a China Travel Document.

However, if your child was born in China and came to the United States with you, and has obtained a Permanent Resident Card or Certificate of Naturalization, then your child would be able to apply for a visa.

Please note that the Chinese government reserves the right to request additional documents from visa applicants. Therefore, it is important to be prepared to provide any additional documents that may be requested.
